Japanese rice is undeniably delicious, but most Taiwanese are familiar with Shin-O Koshihikari. However, Komachi rice from Akita is just as renowned in Japan as Koshihikari. Its plump, clean grains offer an exceptional bounce and texture that remains great even when cooled, making it also the choice ingredient for making delicious rice sticks in Akita. From November 25 to December 5 (Sunday), Akita will bring its dreamy Komachi rice to Taiwan, holding a specialty products exhibition at Breeze Center, along with a “cooking demonstration” to teach everyone how to cook delicious Akita flavors.

The rice stick hot pot is what Akita locals love most for family gatherings during the cold winter months. Roasted rice sticks made from Akita’s dreamy Komachi rice are cooked together with chicken, ???, mushrooms, green onions, and burdock to create a traditional Japanese rural-style hot pot.

The Akita specialty exhibition will be held from November 25 to December 5 at Breeze Super, located on B2 of Breeze Center, featuring dreamy Komachi rice, rice stick hot pot sets, delicious honey apples (Fuji and Orin varieties), as well as Inaniwa udon — just as famous as Sakata udon — and various types of tsukudani (Japanese side dishes made with small fish). A “cooking demonstration” will also be held daily, where Akita moms from afar will personally teach participants and invite the public to taste the warmth of winter flavors.
