Among them, the Taipei Museum of History also invited Professors Guan and Zhuang to give a one-hour special lecture at the museum on December 4. The National Palace Museum in Taipei also took the lead in inviting Professor Qi to give a special lecture on Chinese ritual vessels during their visit, highlighting his professional background and representative status.

Wang Yongshan, CEO of Liuyuan, stated: “Professor Qi Jixiang represents a rare and invaluable talent on the mainland, having dedicated 40 years to the study of ancient Chinese relics; Professor Guan Donghai is the director of the Glass Research Laboratory at Tsinghua University, a renowned expert in curating and creating international glass art; Professor Zhuang Xiaowei is the curator of Shanghai’s official Modern Glass Art Museum and a professor at Shanghai University. Together, these three figures represent important individuals ushering in a new era for both Chinese and Western modern glass art.”

Another significant meaning of this visit by the three professors to Taiwan, upon invitation by Liuyuan, is to build anticipation and provide context for the upcoming release of Liuyuan’s new work series ‘Hearts in Harmony with Vessels’ by the end of the year. According to tittot Liuyuan, the birth of the Hearts in Harmony with Vessels series will be ‘the first time Chinese artisans perfectly combine China’s ancient ding vessel culture with modern glass art.’ The series will present the essence and spirit of bronze ding vessels in a more lifestyle-oriented form. The materials boldly use glass to incorporate the intricate patterns of ancient ritual bronze vessels, reflecting a modern design sensibility while maintaining nobility and elegance.

Professor Qi Jixiang, who was invited to Taiwan this time, represents a national treasure-level scholar from the mainland with 40 years of experience researching ancient Chinese relics.

In addition, the Beitou Liuyuan Crystal Museum has invited German glass artist Gabriele Kustner to hold the solo thematic exhibition ‘Glimmering Details – Kustner’ from November 29 until May 30, 2011, showcasing a total of 34 works.
