The Centennial Year of Taiwan's Design Unveiled

On the day of the event, December 10, a “Design Magic Train” made its debut to promote the series of activities for the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of China Taiwan Design Year and the 2011 Taipei World Design Capital. This “Design Magic Train,” specially customized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs using a low-floor bus, will tour major event venues starting from January next year. Through four key themes — “safety,” “universal design,” “green,” and “humanity” — the train integrates creative energy from product design, graphic design, and spatial design, inviting the public to experience it firsthand.

The “100th Anniversary of the Republic of China Taiwan Design Year” will connect 33 certified design-related events across Taiwan, expanding into the “100th Anniversary of the Republic of China Taiwan Design Year Series of Activities.” The highlight will be the 2011 Taipei Design Expo and the Taiwan International Design Expo held in October, with the entire year’s activities expected to attract over 4 million participants from both home and abroad.
