The Year of the Rabbit is just around the corner! How will you spend this Lunar New Year? Enjoying reunion dinner with family or having an unconventional celebration abroad? There's nothing happier than spending time with your loved ones, and adding delicious reunion meals makes it even more delightful. But with modern people facing high work pressure and busy lives, many may not have much time to prepare traditional dishes. In such cases, takeout or pre-ordering becomes the best option. Whether it's premium New Year’s dishes offered by hotels or a wide variety from convenience stores, they’re sure to meet consumers' needs.
Chen Wenyu, Marketing and PR Manager of The Westin Taipei - Regent Taipei, mentioned that the price of pre-ordered New Year’s meal gift boxes has increased by about 10% compared to last year, due to an overall rise in raw material costs of around 20–30%. Despite this, many premium New Year’s dishes are still being offered, with cost savings passed on to the ingredients — truly great value for money P$!
The Westin Taipei - Regent Taipei Introduces Premium Soup Tureen
The Regent Taipei offers a premium soup tureen priced at NT$18,000, featuring the exclusive takeout soup dish from Liuyuan: The Ultimate Seafood Prosperity Tureen. Each tureen serves 8 to 10 people and is made with slow-simmered premium stock using aged hens, crimson-hued Jinhua ham, and flattened bamboo shoots. Rich ingredients include abalone, shark fin, sea cucumber, fish maw, scallops, tendons, bamboo shoots, pork ribs, and pig trotters. After long hours of simmering, the essence of the ingredients fully infuses the broth. The large slices of premium shark fin soak up the rich flavor, resulting in a luxurious yet not greasy taste.
For gift boxes, there are two options: the Shanghai-style 【Liuyuan Nafu】 and the Beijing-style 【Yiyuan Yingchun】, each priced at NT$9,999 for six servings, including five dishes, one soup, and one dessert. Each set comes in a “New Year’s Meal Warmth Pack” thermal bag to keep the dishes hot and fresh. Pre-orders are now open until New Year’s Eve, with a 10% discount for orders placed before January 20, plus a complimentary chef’s special turnip cake and New Year cake.
Guo Zhufen, Deputy Manager of Marketing and PR at The Westin Taipei - Regent Taipei, said that this year’s pre-ordered New Year’s gift boxes are curated by the culinary teams of Liuyuan Shanghai Cuisine and Yiyuan Beijing Cuisine, showcasing the essence of traditional dishes from northern and southern China to bring an authentic Beijing and Shanghai flavor to the reunion feast. Among them, Chef Qiu Youbin from Liuyuan incorporates innovative Jiangnan flavors into the takeout New Year’s dishes, adding sweet and savory elements to the menu. Meanwhile, Chef Yang Dexing from Yiyuan combines classic and creative Beijing-style reunion dishes. For example, the Yiyuan Yingchun Beijing-style takeout gift box, priced at NT$9,999 (serves six, includes five dishes, one soup, and one dessert), sees Chef Yang Dexing revive the authentic flavors of old Beijing New Year feasts, featuring rare ingredients once enjoyed only by nobility (such as shark fin, abalone, lobster, and royal sauces), all presented in seven traditional Beijing-style dishes.
