Good fortune arrives in spring — the Dome Theatre’s special Lunar Rabbit Year edition debuts - HowToTrip

What kind of performance can bring good luck in the new year? Macau’s most famous Dome Theatre has also launched a special Rabbit Year edition in the Golden Rabbit Year, immersing audiences in a shower of gold coins and dazzling fireworks to ensure a year of booming fortune!

The Dome Theatre at Studio City is the world’s largest domed integrated theatre, built at a cost of approximately US$40 million. Its 360-degree dynamic audiovisual show “Dragon’s Treasure” won the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2009 from the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. The Rabbit Year special edition debuted on February 3, 2011. Audiences first enter the Zodiac Fortune Wheel in the theatre, then welcome the arrival of the auspicious rabbit, a gold coin shower, and dazzling fireworks, feeling as if submerged underwater. Finally, they pass through the realms of four Dragon Kings to experience the “Dragon’s Spiritual Energy,” propelling their fortune to soar like a dragon in the new year.

Lawrence Ho, Chairman and CEO of Melco Crown Entertainment, said: “The Dome has welcomed over 2.5 million visitors, and this lucky special edition showcases the theatre’s versatility and adaptability. The new version will keep ‘Dragon’s Treasure’ fresh and exciting, continuing to attract both local citizens and tourists.” The Rabbit Year special edition was produced by the world-renowned creative team Falcon’s Treehouse, LLC. The lucky rabbit stands 30 feet tall and is 40 feet long. The starry sky scene at the beginning of the show replicates the actual night sky over Macau on the evening of the Lunar New Year on February 3, 2011. The gold coin shower scene reportedly cost about US$96 million, making it truly “lavish.”
