Yangmingshan’s annual floral season is one of the most anticipated events for Taipei residents. Not only do a myriad of flowers compete in a riot of colors, but you can also enjoy a refreshing stroll through the mountains—truly delightful. The 2011 Yangmingshan Floral Season will take place from February 18 to March 20. The public is welcome to join in the mountain flower viewing.

The Yangmingshan Floral Season will kick off with an opening ceremony at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 18, 2011. Centered around the theme “Spring Filled with Hope,” the event welcomes the fresh vitality of spring. An international environmental music maestro—Matthew Lien—will perform a nature concert on the opening day. A “Jade Rabbit Treasure Hunt” activity will also be arranged, inviting children to search for plastic bottles together to create a large-scale environmental art installation, the “Wall of Hope.”

In response to the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) concept of the Flower Expo, the floral season activities have invited Moritz Freund (Xu A Mo), an artist-in-residence at Grass Mountain Art Village, and the LEVITAS lightweight design team to showcase their creative ingenuity and decorate a beautiful backyard garden within the floral season exhibition area. Additionally, participants in the “Yangmingshan Clean Water and Mountains Activity” will receive a beautiful floral season souvenir. Various cultural and artistic activities will also take place every weekend.
