Moving four million people, get ready for the 2011 Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival!

This year’s internationally renowned teams include Austria’s Salzburg Marionette Theatre performing the classic “The Sound of Music” with puppets, the American Kronos Quartet bringing the space dialogue concert “Solar Wheel,” and the highly sought-after “Mandarin All-Star Concert” from last year’s festival, which will now be held at the Kaohsiung Arena that can accommodate ten thousand people — an event not to be missed. Additionally, 11 local Kaohsiung groups will perform, including the symphony orchestra’s “Liszt 200th Anniversary Series Concerts,” the Chinese orchestra’s “Fantasia on the Terracotta Army,” the Taiwan Drama Performance Troupe’s “Three Musketeers – The Dream of Founding a Nation,” the City Ballet’s “Cinderella,” the Counterpoint Chamber Orchestra’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” the Shanghe Taiwanese Opera Troupe’s “Pupil of Muni,” the Golden Eagle Pavilion TV Puppet Troupe’s “The Desert Dynasty of the Jade Bell,” the Ten Drums Troupe and Leftist Dance Association’s “East’s Spring – The Majestic Beat of Drums,” and the Blue Fantasy Orchestra and Theater Noir Visual Dance Troupe’s “When Piano Meets Dancer.” The program is rich and diverse, and the public is encouraged to book tickets early.
