The Former Residence of Lin Wang the Elephant: A World of Yesteryear :: Cultural Pavilion

The Cultural Pavilion in the Flower Expo is the only one without flowers—a comprehensive exhibition venue displaying the aesthetics of Taiwanese folk life. It was once the home of Grandpa Lin Wang the Elephant, who accompanied Taiwanese people through many years, the “World of Yesteryear” in the Children’s Amusement Park, and also the location of the first-class historic site “Yuanshan Relic.” As such, the Cultural Pavilion holds shared memories of the Taiwanese people and is truly an ideal place to experience the past and present of humanity.

To give the old building new life, the Cultural Pavilion was renovated into the grand entrance of “Pearl Garden Art Banquet.” It aims to let the public experience the enduring vitality of traditional Taiwanese art and culture, and presents specially created performances for the Flower Expo, such as the grand shows “Peony Flower Goddess” and “Flower Goddess Ritual,” as well as 684 performances including opera, music, dance, folk parades, and acrobatic martial arts.

Upon entering the exhibition hall, you can admire the fruit carving art of “Flower Goddess Banquet” and appreciate traditional craftsmanship that spans thousands of years. The “Rebirth” exhibition transforms eco-friendly paper materials into modern fashion decorations, and showcases the extension of traditional humanistic wisdom through incense art. The third exhibition theme, “Flower Dreams,” draws inspiration from literature, fine arts, and photography, transforming three-dimensional materials into fantastical spaces that immerse visitors in the dream world of artists. Here, the Cultural Pavilion showcases a simple beauty rooted in everyday life—expressing gratitude toward nature and the tranquility amid a busy life.
