Will Shuizhongyang 2.0 repeat the same mistake? Overwhelmed by crowds, traffic control to be enforced

Could another viral scenic spot soon follow in Bayan’s footsteps? The upgraded Shuizhongyang in Xinghua Li, Sanchi District, along Beixin Township Road 8 between Tamsui and Jinshan, has become so popular that the once-quiet country road is now packed with visitors. To achieve a win-win for both tourists and residents, the Tamsui Police Precinct will implement traffic controls on Beixin Line 8, where Shuizhongyang is located, every holiday starting January 7.

The Bayan settlement once boasted a picturesque “Shuizhongyang” scene reminiscent of a poem or painting—unfortunately, it no longer exists, leaving many would-be visitors disappointed. Along Beixin Township Road 8 between Tamsui and Jinshan, there’s another hidden gem comparable to Shuizhongyang. Instead of stones in the lake, there’s a tree, and the harmonious view makes for a picturesque shot no matter how you frame it. Dubbed the “upgraded Shuizhongyang” by netizens, the sudden influx of tourists has disrupted the peaceful lives of local residents. The Tamsui Police Precinct has announced that traffic controls will be in place every holiday starting January 7. The public is urged to cooperate.

(1) Restricted Hours: From 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends and holidays, starting January 7, 2017.
(2) Restricted Area: Beixin Line 8 (Cuirou Mountain, Xinxing Road), Yun Guangkeng Industrial Road, Zhenzilin Industrial Road, Beixin Line 6 (Xingzhong Road), Sanchi District Route 101, Sanchi District Beixin Line 8, and the intersection with Tianxinzǐ Road.
(3) Restricted Intersections:
1. The intersection of Route 101 and Beixin Line 8.
2. The intersection of Beixin Line 8 and Zhenzilin Industrial Road.
3. The intersection of Beixin Line 8 and Yun Guangkeng Industrial Road.
4. The intersection of Beixin Line 6 (Xingzhong Road).
5. The intersection of Beixin Line 8 and Tianxinzǐ Road.
(4) Vehicle (cars and motorcycles) entry and exit controls will be enforced within the restricted area and at the listed intersections during the restricted hours (excluding vehicles of local residents and buses). Enhanced enforcement against traffic violations and towing of illegally parked vehicles will be carried out.
(5) Motorcycles should access the area via Beixin Road 101, turn left onto Cuirou Mountain Road (Beixin Line 8).
(6) It is recommended to take F105 or 871 buses from Tamsui MRT Station, get off at Zhenzilin Station, walk 700 meters, or take buses 866, 875, 876, 877, or 893, get off at Tianxinzǐ Station, and walk 950 meters to the scenic spot.
(7) For drivers, take Danjin Road toward Sanchi, turn right onto Beixin Line 8 at the 9.7K mark, then turn left or right at the Beixin Line 8 and Zhenzilin intersection, park in the temporary parking lot, and walk 900 meters to the scenic spot.
