The slide gets a makeover as mascot to promote Huoshaodao Marathon

This year’s mascot, the “Green Island Elephant,” was once the only slide on Green Island. After becoming old and facing the risk of being scrapped, it was bought by Li Mengfa. He gathered local residents to repaint the slide. In 2010, during the “Travel Around Taiwan” campaign, it not only took a boat ride along Kaohsiung’s Love River but also traveled by train to Taipei Zoo to pay respects to the “Lin Wang Elephant.” It even attended the Chinese Professional Baseball League championship series to cheer on the “Brothers Elephants.” On the day of the race, April 3rd, 300 mini versions of the “Green Island Elephant” will be on Green Island to encourage all runners. The event also aims to showcase through this national marketing campaign that Green Island is not only a beautiful destination but also a creative island with potential for developing “cultural and creative industries.”
