Major earthquake in Japan, EVA Air cancels 55 flights to Japan

Due to the impact of the northeastern Japan earthquake, EVA Air has cancelled some flights to Japan starting today, including Taipei–Sendai, Taoyuan–Narita, Songshan–Haneda, and Taipei–Sapporo. Currently, the cancelled flights are mainly for March, and the cancellation period for Taipei–Sendai flights is the longest, expected to last from today until June 30.

Following the Japan earthquake, EVA Air cancels some March flights to Japan.

EVA Air also stated that passengers holding tickets issued on or before March 11 to Sendai with confirmed seats will be exempted from related service fees for itinerary changes, ticket refunds, or date/route modifications. For passengers traveling to other Japanese destinations besides Sendai, if their tickets were issued on or before March 11 and are scheduled to depart between March 11 and May 31 with confirmed seats, they will also be exempted from related fees for itinerary changes, ticket refunds, or date/route modifications.

After the disaster, most airlines have resumed normal flight services to Japan, but EVA Air currently has the largest scale of flight adjustments.

In addition to EVA Air cancelling the BR118/BR117 flights between Taipei and Sendai, other cancelled flights include the Taoyuan–Narita BR2198/BR2197 flights on March 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, and 30; the Songshan–Haneda BR190 flight from March 16 to 20 and the BR189 flight from March 17 to 21; as well as the Taipei–Sapporo BR116/BR115 flights on March 16, 17, 19, 20, and 21. In total, EVA Air has cancelled 55 flights this time.
