Singapore Airlines adjusts fuel surcharges, flights to Los Angeles in July

With aviation fuel prices continuing to rise, Singapore Airlines will adjust its fuel surcharges starting April 21. The charges per flight segment will vary depending on flight distance and cabin class. The new fees apply to tickets issued in Taiwan for flights departing from Taipei on both Singapore Airlines and SilkAir. In addition, Singapore Airlines has announced that starting July 1, its iconic A380 aircraft will operate the Singapore–Tokyo (Narita Airport)–Los Angeles route.

For the adjusted fuel surcharges, the round-trip fare between Taipei and Singapore is USD 47, between Singapore and various Southeast Asian destinations is USD 34, between Singapore and European/South African destinations is USD 162, between Singapore and the Americas is USD 266, and between Europe and Australia/New Zealand is USD 242 (all prices are for economy class), subject to the exchange rate on the ticketing date.

Originally scheduled to begin on March 27, the Singapore–Tokyo (Narita Airport)–Los Angeles route has been postponed to July 1 due to the impact of the earthquake in Japan. Los Angeles will also become the eighth destination on the Singapore Airlines network to be served regularly by the A380.
