The Taitung community celebrates the launch of its new visitor center with festivities

With the summer vacation approaching, many people choose to vacation in the Huatung Valley. The Yong’an Community in Luye Township, Taitung County, preserves many traditional cultural elements, such as the old provincial highway from the Japanese colonial period and the culture of veteran farmers reclaiming farmland. In recent years, the community has vigorously promoted the revitalization of the Wuling Green Tunnel, with results gradually becoming evident. To provide visitors with more comprehensive services, the local area established the “Yong’an Farm Visitor Center” on July 1. In addition to promoting local culture, it also offers bicycle rentals, becoming a rest stop for backpackers and cyclists.

The Yong’an Farm Visitor Center is the latest multifunctional community service platform set up by the Yong’an Community in 2011. Since the former site of the visitor center was a veterans’ activity center, after renovation and refurbishment, in addition to activating the visitor center, it also plans to incorporate displays and explanatory signs about veterans’ culture during the interior decoration, while providing a gathering place for nearby residents.

In addition, the service center will also provide travel consultations, bicycle rental services, a direct sales platform for community agricultural specialties, community holiday markets, and a rest stop for backpackers and cyclists. To celebrate the inauguration of the Yong’an Farm Visitor Center, the Yong’an Community is hosting the event in a festive manner, inviting fellow Taitung residents to join in the celebration. At the launch event on July 1 at 5 PM, the community will offer a variety of delicious dishes, fruits, drinks, and more, all provided free of charge by residents and local shops. There will also be storytelling sessions by veterans and a mosquito cinema event.
