Enhancing convenience for mainland Chinese tourists, Taichung Airport Express Bus launches on June 28

As the end of the month approaches and Taiwan welcomes the arrival of independent travelers from mainland China, local governments across the island are actively promoting measures to attract these visitors. Meanwhile, the second phase of Taichung’s ChingChuanKang Airport terminal is set to be completed by the end of next year, at which point planes carrying more than 200 passengers will be able to take off and land. Currently, the city’s Transportation Bureau is actively developing an airport access transportation system and has planned an express bus route between ChingChuanKang Airport and Taichung Railway Station. The service is expected to begin operating on June 28, providing convenient transit options for tourists.

Lin Liang-tai, Director of the Transportation Bureau, stated that the No. 115 “Taichung Airport Terminal – Taichung Station” Express Bus route, launching on June 28, will be operated by Taichung Bus Company as a limited-stop service based on the existing Route 9 trunk line. The reduced number of stops offers a faster service. The bus exterior will feature graphics promoting this year’s Taichung City bus campaign, “Love the Bus i384 — Explore Mountains, Sea, and Tuntun,” using the vehicle itself to market Greater Taichung to tourists.

The route runs between Taichung Airport Terminal and Taichung Railway Station, with stops at Liuzhangli, Daya, Zhongqing Huanzhong Intersection, Shuinan Market, Tianjin Road Commercial Area, Xiaoming Girls’ High School (Tunghao Hotel), Taichung Second High School, Wucyuan-Shueishih Intersection, Chungyo Department Store, Taichung Institute of Technology, Taichung Park, and Second Market, totaling 14 stops. The journey from the airport to the railway station normally takes about 70 minutes by regular bus, but the express bus reduces the trip to just 40 minutes—approximately 30 minutes faster. The public is encouraged to make use of this convenient service.
