Two years on from the Kaohsiung World Games, rock party returns in glory

The highly successful 2009 Kaohsiung World Games is about to reach its second anniversary, and the Kaohsiung City Government will lead the public in revisiting the event and reliving its glory. From July 16 to July 31, the “2011 Summer Kaohsiung Series” will be held. The opening event, the “World Games Rock Party,” invites Crowd Lu, Jolin Tsai, Yoga Lin, Xiao Wang Fu, and the DJ trio Electric Three Princes back to the main stadium of the World Games. Paired with a surrounding fireworks display at the stadium, the event invites the public to rock out passionately and once again experience the wonderful moments of the World Games.

The Kaohsiung World Games inspired confidence and pride among the people of Kaohsiung, and also earned international acclaim for Taiwan. Ron Froehlich, President of the International World Games Association, even praised the “2009 Kaohsiung World Games as the most successful World Games ever.” To relive the glory of the Kaohsiung World Games, on July 16, the Kaohsiung City Government invites citizens to return to the place of glory — the main stadium of the World Games. The main show of the first event includes different music genres such as rock, EDM, and ballads, along with a surrounding fireworks display. That day also includes activities such as the “2011 MediaTek National City Football League,” the “World Games Memorial Exhibition,” and the “Sports Season Photo Exhibition.” Surrounding areas will also feature World Games experience zones like frisbee accuracy throwing and bocce aiming — all free for the public to experience.

In addition to the first “World Games Rock Party” on July 16, there will also be performances on July 17 by the Dagou Yue Band and the Shi San Band; on July 23 and 24, the “World Games EDM Party” will feature the Band of Strong Argument and Chairman Band; on July 30 and 31, the “World Games Non-Stop Party” will feature the Kao Jr. Band and the Ocean Music Awards, among others.
