Explore Sun Moon Lake with two new travel packages to be launched in August

Sun Moon Lake has always been a favorite destination for both domestic and international tourists. The travel packages launched last year, covering land, water, and air transportation, were warmly welcomed, with 90,000 packages sold. This year, the offerings have been expanded to include two new packages: “Checheng Good Ride” and “Sun Moon Full Journey.” These will extend the travel routes from Sun Moon Lake to Shuili and Checheng, with plans to launch them in August.

The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration noted that the number of visitors to Sun Moon Lake has been increasing year by year, and demand for tourism outside the lake area has been expanding. After the resumption of service on the Jiji Line on July 9, domestic and international tourists will be able to take Taiwan Railways’ cruise-style train directly to stations such as Jiji, Shuili, and Checheng. It is estimated that the annual passenger volume on the Jiji Line will increase from 300,000 to 500,000.

Among them, the “Sun Moon Full Journey” package includes access to eight types of transportation: the Jiji Line train, the “Taiwan Good Ride – Sun Moon Lake Line” scenic shuttle bus, the “Sun Moon Lake – Checheng” shuttle bus, the cable car, boat rides, the lakeside loop bus, and discounted rentals for bicycles and electric scooters. With one ticket, you can experience the diverse scenery of the greater Sun Moon Lake area. Travelers can depart from Taichung, choose the Taiwan Good Ride shuttle bus to enter Sun Moon Lake, pass through Checheng, then take the Jiji Line train back to Taichung, or start their journey via the Jiji Line train. The “Checheng Good Ride” package combines woodcraft and pottery cultural industries, allowing visitors to explore the woodcraft old street, experience wood-fired kiln pottery making, and take photos at the all-timber Checheng Railway Station and the nostalgic Shuili Railway Station.
