Mini World Architecture Collection: Taman Tamadun Islam Mosque-Themed Park

Taiwan has the super tiny Miniature World and the Miniatures Museum, and Malaysia also has a theme park that collects classic Islamic architecture from around the world. You can see everything from the Blue Mosque to the Taj Mahal, all meticulously recreated in reduced-scale realism, allowing you to experience the grandeur of centuries-old architecture without traveling all the way to each country.

The Mosque-Themed Park (Taman Tamadun Islam) is just a 15-minute drive from the city center, built at the river mouth of Terengganu. It’s hard not to notice this park when crossing the Terengganu Bridge—the row of mosques built along the riverbank are highly visible, especially the black-clad “Crystal Mosque” near the river mouth, which stands out the most.

The theme park, which opened in 2008, is built on Wan Man Island and connected to the mainland by a bridge. The vast park is divided into areas such as the Monument Park, Warrior Park, Convention Center, and Crystal Mosque. Among them, the Monument Park is a miniature world map of architecture, featuring 21 of the most famous mini buildings from Southeast and South Asia.

The buildings include well-known ones such as Turkey’s Blue Mosque, India’s Taj Mahal, and Malaysia’s National Mosque, among others. There are also structures from Russia, Syria, China, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Spain—like a little world. Each building is meticulously recreated in reduced-scale realism, making it a particularly fascinating corner of the theme park.

Besides the mini versions of world architecture, the most unique feature of the park is the Crystal Mosque. The building, which looks black on the outside, is actually made of a large amount of black crystal glass, with each piece reflecting the surrounding scenery—setting it apart from typical mosques. Inside the mosque, there is still space for Muslims to pray. In addition to the beautiful crystal chandeliers on the ceiling, every wall is made of light-transmitting glass inscribed with sacred scriptures, praising the greatness of Allah and declaring that all praise belongs to God Almighty, and all holiness and glory are His. It gives visitors a profound sense of devotion.
