The "Dongshi Sea Summer Festival" in Chiayi Kicks Off the Qixi Festival with Gold Necklaces

During the 2011 Chiayi "Dongshi Sea Summer Festival," which spans the entire month of August, various celebration events will take place every Saturday and Sunday. On the opening day, August 6, the Chiayi County Cultural Affairs Bureau held the "Love in Dongshi Happiness Concert" at the romantic rendezvous destination — Dongshi Fishing Harbor. The event featured performances by fresh-voiced new-generation singer邓福如 (Deng Fu-Ru), actress and singer 林凡 (Lin Fan) known for her role in “The Fierce Wife,” ballad prince 李圣杰 (Lee Sheng-chieh), heartfelt father-figure in music 张宇 (Chang Yu), and Super Idol winner 张芸京 (Fish Leong), who performed live to kick off the festival.

It’s worth mentioning that on the evening of August 6, there was also a romantic event called “Lovers’ 100-Second Kiss for Happiness.” One hundred couples were invited to kiss for 100 seconds, symbolizing spending a century of love at Dongshi Fishing Harbor during Qixi Festival. Ten lucky couples were also drawn to receive a pair of pure gold necklaces as a token of enduring affection.

In addition, from August 13 to August 21, every Saturday and Sunday will feature a curated exhibition of Chiayi gift boxes, energetic water play activities, and evening live band performances. August 27 and 28 have been designated as "Thank You Dongshi Week," with activities including wind chime DIY workshops, oyster shell art sand painting, beach volleyball competitions, and a 1 NT dollar auction for fresh seafood catches.
