Step into a time machine and experience 1960s and 1970s-style Hong Kong Western cuisine

Hong Kong’s colonial history has made it a melting pot of Eastern and Western cultures, so when you visit Hong Kong, you’ll find many attractions that blend local and Western influences. Located on Wellington Street in Central, “Lai Lo Restaurant” is a dining spot filled with old Hong Kong charm, exuding the nostalgic vibe of the 1960s and 1970s.

The four-story “Lai Lo Restaurant” features an eye-catching retro neon signboard. Its menu offers classic nostalgic dishes, including teppanyaki sets, Lai Lo-style squab, and “Mandarin Duck” sauce q lobster seafood rice. In addition to serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea, it is also the only restaurant in Central that offers dim sum during late-night hours.

Retro floral wallpaper is adorned with photos documenting the colonial era, while shades of brown and gold reflect off the lamps, walls, and floors. This is the founder Mr. Lo Kit Sing’s memory of the 1960s and 1970s, a tribute to his childhood meals at Hong Kong-style Western restaurants. He shares these childhood memories with guests and hopes the next generation can also experience the dining culture of the past.
