Many people were still asleep during the early morning hours, while some were awakened by the shaking. The earthquake intensity in Taitung’s Changbin area reached level 5, with levels 3 in Hualien, Chiayi, Nantou, Taichung, Changhua, and Yunlin, level 2 in Taoyuan-Zhubei-Miaoli, and level 1 in Taipei, New Taipei, Tainan, and Kaohsiung.

The Meteorological Bureau stated that aftershocks are still expected and advised the public to stay vigilant. Due to the earthquake, train operations in eastern Taiwan have also been partially affected. Passengers planning to use Taiwan Railways today are advised to check before departure. The frequent quakes have also impacted tourism in Hualien and eastern Taiwan, with occupancy rates at many hotels and homestays dropping. This has caused concern in the eastern region, which heavily relies on tourism.
