World’s fastest DSLR camera, the Nikon 1, makes a stunning debut

The international camera brand Nikon on the 21st globally unveiled its newly developed mirrorless digital camera series “Nikon 1,” the first digital cameras to feature the latest imaging processing technology, Expeed 3. With focusing and image processing speeds that are the fastest in the world, along with a sleek, stylish body and an easy-to-use interface, the series is sure to attract photography enthusiasts.

Japan’s Nikon stated: “The ‘Nikon 1’ was created to meet the camera market demands of the next ten years. Research found that many consumers are not satisfied with existing camera products and instead hope for cameras that are simpler, more convenient, yet still deliver high image quality.”

The “Nikon 1” series is the lightest and smallest compact digital interchangeable lens camera, featuring simple operation and ease of use. Its simple and stylish exterior design is also highly appealing. In terms of functionality, it can rival digital SLR cameras—not only with faster focusing speeds but also support for Full HD video recording at 1080p/60fps, as well as ultra-high-speed video recording up to 1200fps. This means it can autofocus while recording video and take photos simultaneously.

Additionally, the “Nikon 1” innovatively introduces the “Motion Snapshot” feature, which records video before the shutter is pressed, ensuring users don’t miss exciting moments. The “Smart Photo Selector” function automatically selects the five clearest and best-composed shots out of 11 consecutive photos taken. Equipped with the Expeed 3 imaging processing system capable of handling 600 million pixels per second, as well as the newly developed CX-format image sensor, the burst shooting speed can reach up to 60 frames per second. Notably, when paired with an F-mount adapter, the “Nikon 1” can support approximately seventy different types of NIKKOR lenses, and it also allows for external flash and GPS connectivity, showcasing its powerful expandability.

The “Nikon 1” series is set to officially go on sale on October 20th, with pre-order details to be announced later on the www.coolpix.com.tw website.
