The "Those Years" Pingxi scenes are all the rage, with 1,999 ticket sets selling out fast and more on the way

The domestic film "You Are the Apple of My Eye," which has been a box office hit, features the Pingxi Old Street Shidi Bridge as one of its filming locations. This has turned the spot into a must-visit destination for fans, leading to a buying frenzy for the "NT$199 Pingxi Railway One-Day Tour Discount Ticket Set" launched by New Taipei City Government on October 1. The initial 5,000 ticket sets sold out in less than a week, prompting the city government to coordinate with operators to release an additional 2,000 sets, which will go on sale at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 25.

The New Taipei City Government Tourism Bureau stated that in the movie "You Are the Apple of My Eye," the scene where the male lead, Ko Ching-teng, confesses his love to the female lead under a sky lantern was filmed on Shidi Bridge in Pingxi Old Street, Pingxi District. The shy and nervous emotions of the male lead, coupled with the sight of the sky lanterns floating upward, left a deep impression on audiences. Many fans have also used Shidi Bridge as a stage for romantic proposals, making Pingxi a popular destination for celebrity-chasing tourists.

This year, the city government, in collaboration with Taiwan Railways and travel agencies, launched the "NT$199 Pingxi Railway One-Day Tour Discount Ticket Set." The package includes train tickets (round-trip from Banqiao to Ruifang and a one-day pass from Ruifang to Jing Tong, originally priced at NT$160), a NT$100 experience voucher (redeemable for a four-foot single-color sky lantern or equivalent souvenir), a NT$100 dining voucher, a set of New Taipei City scenic postcards, and a fold-out Pingxi travel guide map. With a total value of over NT$400, the public can enjoy a Pingxi railway and sky lantern adventure for just NT$199. The additional ticket sets will go on sale at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 25. Tickets can be purchased online via the China Times Travel website or at physical sales outlets of China Times Travel in Taipei, Hsinchu, and Taichung. Buyers may also have the chance to win movie merchandise and Pingxi souvenirs.
