China Airlines has launched a new direct flight route from Taichung to Chongqing starting today.

To meet the strong demand in Central Taiwan for cross-strait direct flights, China Airlines has newly opened a direct flight route from Taichung to Chongqing starting today (October 31). The airline will operate flights between Taichung and Chongqing every Monday and Thursday; special promotional fares are available during the inaugural period, with prices starting from NT$16,300 including taxes and fees for a 14-day advance purchase.

The inaugural flight CI251 from Taichung to Chongqing departed at 14:00 and arrived in Chongqing at 17:05, operated by a 104-seat E190 aircraft. The return flight CI252 took off from Chongqing Jiangbei Airport at 18:10 and arrived in Taichung at 20:40. With frequent cross-strait exchanges, China Airlines offers seamless connections for cross-strait direct flights at Taiwan’s Songshan, Taoyuan, Taichung, and Kaohsiung airports, facilitating deeper commercial and tourism interactions between the two sides.

Chongqing is one of China’s four municipalities directly under the central government and also ranks among the country’s five major central cities. In terms of business, Chongqing is an economic hub in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and a transportation center in Southwest China, home to numerous tech industries and businesses. Chongqing is also extremely rich in tourism resources—it is both a renowned cultural city and a key gateway for trips to Jiuzhaigou and the Three Gorges.
