Thailand has seen continuous reports of flooding recently, with the main affected areas being along the Chao Phraya River in the central region. Popular tourist destinations including Bangkok, Ayutthaya, as well as central locations like Pattaya and Hua Hin have not been impacted. Most attractions in downtown Bangkok can still be visited normally, and the public transportation system is operating as usual. However, the Chao Phraya River, which flows through Bangkok, currently has a higher water level than in previous years, resulting in flooding at some tourist spots near the riverbanks and parts of Chinatown, especially during high tide.

The flooded areas in Greater Bangkok are mostly residential and industrial zones near the riverbanks, which are not typically visited by tourists. The MRT and BTS systems are all functioning normally, although the number of taxis and tuk-tuks has decreased. Suvarnabhumi International Airport is also operating as usual, handling around 800 flights daily. Domestic flight connections to destinations such as Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Surat Thani are also taking off and landing normally.

Many places are still holding celebrations for the important Thai festival of Loy Krathong as scheduled, including Sukhothai, Chiang Mai, and Tak from November 8 to 10. Areas that have canceled some Loy Krathong festivities due to flooding include Bangkok, Ayutthaya, and Suphan Buri. Travelers planning to visit Thailand are advised to check the weather forecast for their intended destinations in advance and confirm whether transportation arrangements are running as normal. You can contact Bangkok’s information hotline 1672 for local updates, or visit the Thai Meteorological Department’s website for weather conditions.
