The centennial commemorative events would naturally not be complete without the internationally renowned “Alishan”! From November 12 to December 28, the Chiayi Forest District Office is launching the “Sleepless Winter Moon: Reflections of Alishan” event, which will revive the imagery of Alishan’s century-old mountain forests through documentary screenings, allowing the public to explore the diverse charm of Alishan.

This event features three documentaries related to Taiwan’s mountain forests and the afforestation history of Alishan, including “Roaming the Mountain Forests – Kunino Tadao” on November 19, “Storm Over Alishan” on December 24, and “A Century of Alishan Afforestation” on December 28. These films respectively recount the valuable historical contributions of Japanese-era scholar Kunino Tadao to Taiwan’s mountain forests, as well as legends of the Tsou people of Alishan and Qing dynasty envoy Wu Feng. Each screening session invites several experts to provide commentary and share insights on Alishan’s century-long development history and the anecdotes of its wilderness.

Additionally, there will be a performance of European music at the Power Room Plaza from 7:30 to 9:30 PM on Saturday, November 12. On Christmas Day, December 25, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a lively Ancient Ruins Market is specially planned, while the afternoon Christmas Party will feature performances including crosstalk, magic, and dance by various performance troupes.
