Situated next to Milan Cathedral, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was designed by architect Giuseppe Mengoni in 1865 and inaugurated two years later by Italy’s then-King Vittorio Emanuele II. In the latter half of the 19th century through the early 20th century, influenced by the French Art Nouveau movement, Italy saw a similar “Liberty style” revolution. Its most distinctive feature was the extensive use of ironwork in various lines and shapes, and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is filled with such beautiful decorations.

At the top of the octagonal piazza where the cross-shaped arcades intersect, there is a mosaic-decorated lunette representing Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The arcade houses many high-end luxury brand stores, and being located next to the cathedral, this lofty mall is always crowded with people. The McDonald’s inside the arcade has thus become the most popular dining spot for tourists.

Situated above the boutique shops within the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the Town House Galleria Hotel, which has been rated as a seven-star hotel by the Swiss grading company SGS. This hotel gained attention as the first to be awarded a seven-star rating.

Each room in the hotel comes with a dedicated butler, and the thoughtfully appointed, top-tier facilities offer guests a homely sense of comfort while meeting individual needs. From the moment guests check in, the hotel is immediately aware of their basic information, including preferences for pillows and dishes, providing meticulous service. However, the hotel entrance is accessed from outside the arcade, and only the second and third floor guest rooms are visible from within the arcade.
