The Kanto Area Pass goes on sale December 1st!

After JR West Japan Railway launched the Kansai Area Pass and the Sanyo Area Pass for overseas visitors, and Keikyu Electric Railway introduced the Keikyu-Haneda & Subway Common Pass for one-day travel... subsequently, to facilitate train travel for international visitors to Japan, East Japan Railway Company will also issue the JR Kanto Area Pass (Kanto Region Pass) on December 1st. This will make it more convenient to travel from the airport via the Narita Express or Tokyo Monorail to central Tokyo, and then transfer to nearby sightseeing spots such as Lake Kawaguchi, Izu, Kusatsu, Karuizawa, Nasu Plateau, and Nikko.

This pass will be available for purchase for one year starting December 1, 2011, with usage valid for one year beginning January 1, 2012. It can be purchased at JR East Travel Service Centers (Narita Airport Station, Terminal 2, Haneda Airport International Terminal Station), as well as in Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Ueno, and Yokohama. The adult fare is 8,000 yen and the child fare is 4,000 yen, with a consecutive 3-day usage period.
Holders of this pass can freely board and disembark from ordinary cars (reserved seats) on limited express trains (including Shinkansen), express, and local trains within the JR East Railway area, the entire Fuji Kyuko Line, the entire Izu Kyuko Line, the entire Tokyo Monorail Line, the entire Koumi Railway Line, and the limited express trains between Omiya Station and the Railway Museum.

This discount ticket is only available to tourists holding foreign passports, so please present your passport when purchasing. Those who buy the pass at JR East Travel Service Centers (Narita Airport Station, Terminal 2, Haneda Airport International Terminal Station) will receive a special mobile phone strap, while supplies last.
