Tainan Dim Sum Festival Kicks Off, Calling on Check-in Enthusiasts to Enjoy Food and Win Prizes

Tainan, known for its street food, is hosting the 2011 Tainan Dim Sum Festival from now until December 31 (Saturday). The event gathers 362 food vendors, offering the public a feast of local delicacies, and includes activities such as the “Slow Food Stamp Rally” and the “Most Popular Food Vendors Poll.” In response to the nationwide trend of checking in on social media, it has also launched the “48-Hour Foodie Check-in Challenge.” Participants can take photos of their meals, upload them to Facebook, and check in. Those who finish eating at 16 food venues within 48 hours will be eligible to win a cash prize of NT$10,000.

For those who wish to savor their food more mindfully, they can join the “Slow Food Stamp Rally.” Simply visit any of the 8 designated food zones featured in the event, spend NT$50 or more to earn one stamp, and collect 10 stamps to enter the lucky draw. Prizes include over 200 items such as DSLR cameras and laptops. Stamp-collecting vouchers can be obtained at six Tainan City tourist service centers, the Guiren Cultural Center, the Yongkang District Social Education Center, and railway station tourist service centers across various counties and cities. They can also be printed directly via the ibon service at 7-Eleven stores nationwide.

Additionally, while enjoying the food, participants can also support their favorite eateries. All stamps collected during this event will count toward the first-ever “Tainan’s Top 10 Most Popular Food Vendors” poll. The historic city of Tainan, selected as one of Taiwan’s must-visit destinations in the Michelin Green Guide, is also the birthplace of many famous local snacks. This event allows the public to enjoy great food and explore all that Greater Tainan has to offer.
