12/16 Diners' Challenge Kicks Off with a Prize of 10,000 Yuan

The second round of one of the three major events of the 2011 Tainan Dim Sum Festival, the "48-Hour Diners' Check-in Challenge," will take place this week on December 16. If you missed the previous round—or have come up with a new strategy and want to sign up again to compete for the 10,000-yuan prize—now’s the time to act fast!

The "48-Hour Diners' Check-in Challenge" is held over three weekends in December, divided into three rounds. The rules are that each participating team must visit any two food establishments participating in the Tainan Dim Sum Festival within each of the eight “Slow Food & Happy Living Zones” across Tainan’s seven administrative districts. After dining, they need to take photos and check in on Facebook. The top three teams to complete check-ins at all 16 food establishments across the eight zones the fastest will win first, second, and third prizes of 10,000 yuan, 6,000 yuan, and 3,000 yuan respectively.

The first round, which kicked off on 12/9 (Friday), saw a total of 14 teams sign up, but only 8 reported successfully completing the 16 check-ins. The fastest team completed the challenge in just 2 hours and 53 minutes, covering all “eight slow food & happy living zones.” However, it was found that most teams' uploaded photos did not meet the required criteria. The Tourism Bureau urged participants to read the rules carefully—the photos must include all team members, the name of the shop, the food ordered, and show the food looking appetizing to avoid disqualification. In the end, the first-place prize was tied between a couple who finished their check-ins in about five hours and the trio from Slow Boat BBQ, while third place was left vacant.
