Lion Travel Expands Campus Training to Create Jobs

The year 100 of the Republic of China (2011) was hailed as Taiwan's big tourism year, with outstanding performance in the tourism, travel, and leisure industries. Coupled with the gradual development of the issue of mainland Chinese tourists, the prospects for the tourism and leisure industry have unlimited growth potential. Lion Travel, which recently won the "Job Creation Contribution Award," also plans to recruit over a hundred outstanding new talents through its regular campus recruitment briefings in the coming year (101, 2012). Starting from February, it will also engage in industry-academia collaboration with several well-known universities and colleges, including National Chengchi University, National Taipei University, Yuan Ze University, and National Chi Nan University. After a one-month training period and a three-month pre-job internship, most students will be able to transition into full-time positions upon graduation, becoming professional tourism talents.

To encourage domestic enterprises to jointly promote employment, support policies aimed at expanding employment, and thereby enhance the nation's overall competitiveness, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Council of Labor Affairs of the Executive Yuan began hosting the "Job Creation Contribution Award" at the start of last year. Each quarter, the award recognizes private enterprises or related entities that have made significant contributions to revitalizing Taiwan's job opportunities and economic climate. The recognition includes hiring special target groups or reaching certain scales and proportions in employment numbers, contributions and exemplary effects in creating jobs, or exceptional achievements in expanding employment by organizations or businesses.

A total of 40 enterprises were selected for recognition in the 4th "Job Creation Contribution Award" of the year 100 of the Republic of China (2011). The recognized enterprises span various major industry sectors, including consumer goods, information and communications, healthcare, semiconductors, environmental protection, tourism, insurance, security, catering, and wholesale and retail. Among them, Din Tai Fung, UNIQLO, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Far EasTone Telecommunications, Deloitte & Touche, and Lion Travel were all on the list.
