Love River + Love Songs: Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Seeks Romantic Light Tunes

The “2012 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Arts Festival” will take place from January 27 to February 6 next year. This year, the Kaohsiung City Government is specifically calling for submissions of a “Water Lantern Love Song” and a “Water Lantern Blessing Tune.” Musically passionate creators from across the nation are invited to compose moving melodies for the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival Arts Festival.

This special call is for a romantic light tune for the Love River, which will play during the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival, complementing the river’s romantic ambiance with beautiful melodies. The “Water Lantern Love Song” and “Water Lantern Blessing Tune” composition contests will each select one winning song. The “Water Lantern Love Song” should be presented with lyrics, melody, and vocal performance—solo, duet, or chorus are all acceptable—and the prize is NT$30,000. The “Water Lantern Blessing Tune” will focus on an instrumental melody, with a prize of NT$20,000.

The composition contest is now open for entries, with submissions due by January 9. A panel of music professionals will serve as judges, and the list of winners will be announced on January 13. For more details, please visit the official website.
