Free Flower Viewing Spots in Taipei: An 8-Basketball-Court-Sized Sunflower Field Right Here

There’s a huge flower field right in Taipei—no need to go to other cities. The sunflower field under the Mai-Shuai II Bridge on the Rainbow Riverside is now in full bloom, covering an area roughly equivalent to eight standard basketball courts. The golden sea of blooms has drawn crowds of people for photos in recent days. The Taipei Water Department expects the viewing period to continue through mid-February, making it a perfect choice for spring outings during the Lunar New Year.

The Water Department said this is the first time a large sunflower field has been planted on the inland side of the Rainbow Riverside Park, covering about 3,500 square meters—approximately the size of eight standard basketball courts. Keen-eyed visitors can easily spot this colorful sea of flowers by looking down from the Mai-Shuai II Bridge, and it’s truly a spectacular sight.

The Taipei City Public Works Bureau Water Department also reminds visitors to be considerate—please avoid trampling the flowers just for the perfect photo. Designated paths are already available for photo opportunities, and taking pictures with the flowers as a backdrop from the sidelines is a great alternative. To allow more people to enjoy the field, please avoid stepping on the flowers along the edges.
