Waited two years for this!: Nantou Tourism’s New Highlight “Qingjing Elevated Scenic Walkway” Debuts in February

The “Barrier-Free Alpine Elevated Scenic Walkway,” promoted and built by Nantou County Government, is expected to open before the end of February. This will help avoid the conflict between pedestrians and vehicles, not only ensuring visitor safety but also providing a new scenic viewing option with six large and small observation platforms along the route.

During holidays, the Ren’ai-Qingjing area often sees heavy traffic, and since Provincial Highway 14A is a major route connecting central and eastern Taiwan, visitors frequently have to share the road with vehicles near the National Guesthouse and Green Green Grassland, which can be dangerous. Therefore, Nantou County Government began constructing the Qingjing Elevated Scenic Walkway System in 2015, and it is now in its final stage. The county government estimates it will be open before the end of February.

Starting from Shoushan Garden and extending to the Green Green Grassland Livestock Center, the walkway is 2.5 meters wide. Combined with the existing wooden boardwalk, the total length is about 1.7 kilometers. To accommodate the mountainous terrain and enhance safety, the walkway features minimal development, with pillars every 15 meters embedded at least five meters into the ground. The walkway is also painted mainly in dark green and white to blend with the natural surroundings.
