Registration open for guided tour of Tainan’s Michelin-starred attraction, Anping Old Street

To compete in the selection for “Taiwan’s Top 10 Small Tourist Towns,” Tainan’s “Anping,” nominated under the theme “Taiwan’s Name Originates from Anping,” has organized the “Anping Old Street Tour.” Starting tomorrow (2/11), every Saturday and Sunday at 3 PM, professional guides will lead visitors on a Michelin-style journey at fixed times and locations. Each session accommodates about 20 people, lasts three hours, and you can register one week in advance with the Tainan City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau.

The “Anping Old Street Tour” itinerary includes Michelin-rated sites. The route begins at Anping Tree House (Michelin 2-star) → Deji Trading Company (Michelin 1-star) → Zhu Jiuying Memorial Hall → former site of U.S.-owned U; Trading Company → Taiwan Salt Dormitories → former site of British-owned Boyd & Co. → Dongxing Trading Company → Qianlong Seawall → Xilong Temple → Wang Jishizhai’s Mansion → residences of the old Anping settlement → Tomb of the Twelve Armies → Lu Jingtang’s Residence → Anping Tianhou Temple → Anping Fort (Michelin 1-star) → Fort Zeelandia Museum → former residence of Anping Old District Chief Lin Yongmin → Anping Local Culture Museum → Anping Guanyin Pavilion → Yanping Old Street → in front of Haitou Guangji Temple → Haishan Guildhall → Victorian-style wall → remnants of the dressing tower → Weitou She Wei Residence → ancient wall with sword lion, and ends at Sanxin Cooperative. Formerly known as “Taiwan,” Anping is the origin of Taiwan’s name, which is why this selection is themed “Taiwan’s Name Originates from Anping.” In addition to online voting for the Top 10 Small Tourist Towns, the Anping District Office has set up three locations—the “Anping Tourism Information Center” (No. 790, Anping Rd., Anping District), “Anping Local Culture Museum” (No. 64, Guanyin St., Anping District), and the Anping District Office service counter (No. 316, Yuping Rd., Anping District)—to distribute “Taiwan’s Top 10 Small Tourist Towns” voting postcards. Residents who cannot access the internet can pick them up to cast their vote. All participants will receive a beautifully designed Tainan scenery or Anping Sword Lion commemorative postcard.
