In a bustling city filled with traffic and fast-paced life, a park that helps relax the mind, body, and soul, and refreshes the senses becomes even more important. The Qianshan Park in Yangmingshan boasts just such qualities — a vast lake, small bridges over flowing water, an abundance of greenery, and even sulfur hot spring pools where you can soak your feet. This year, it earned unanimous acclaim from the judges of the “2016 4th Taiwan Landscape Awards,” winning the prestigious “Annual Grand Prize” in the landscape design category.

Qianshan Park in Yangmingshan offers rich natural scenery and ecology. In addition to a serene and expansive lake, the small bridges, flowing streams, and large shaded areas outside the park create a tranquil atmosphere. What sets Qianshan Park apart is its unique geographical advantage — the park contains multiple sulfur springs, including free foot-soaking sulfur spring pools for visitors.

Huang Liyuan, director of the park office, stated that Qianshan Park is an exceptionally scenic and fascinating location, and a highly popular destination for locals’ outings. Since the early 20th century, the park has been home to various facilities built nearly a century ago, making it essential to renew and optimize the park’s landscape. This renovation focused on humanistic ecology, environmental conservation, and landscape aesthetics, using landscape design techniques such as “reduction,” “integration,” “inclusion,” and “ecology” to revive the historical relics, cultural significance, and the elegant charm of the mountain-water garden in Qianshan Park.
