A new hidden gem in Tamsui with sunset, sea breeze, and ocean views—the stunning sea-meets-sky horizon at the Haiwei Zi section of Tamsui’s Golden Waterfront Bicycle Path has officially opened. This most beautiful stretch of coastline not only offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city but also provides a refreshing view that will lift your spirits, allowing you to fully enjoy the magnificent seascape.

In recent years, cycling as a leisure activity has become increasingly popular, especially the Golden Waterfront Bicycle Path in Tamsui, which is highly favored by cyclists. Starting from Guandu Bridge’s Guanshan Park (0Km), the Tamsui Golden Waterfront Bicycle Path heads north, connecting to Zhulian Station, Hongshulin Station, and Tamsui Station of the MRT, passing by Tamsui riverside shops, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the mouth of Gongsi Tianxi Creek, all the way to the northern seawall of Danhai New Town. In 2016, the High Plain Management Office extended the bicycle path to Tamsui’s Haiwei Zi, adding 137 meters, bringing the total length of the Tamsui Golden Waterfront Bicycle Path to 16.7 kilometers.

The Haiwei Zi section of the Tamsui Golden Waterfront Bicycle Path is located on the northern side of Danhai New Town and can be reached in two ways: one is via Provincial Highway 2B, heading toward the Tamsui Animal Shelter; the other is by biking from Section 3 of Binhai Road, entering from the Gongsi Tianxi Bicycle Path (near Dutch Bay) and riding about 2 kilometers north. In addition to the bicycle path, a newly built access trail connects to Danhai New Town’s Xinshi 5th Road, providing cyclists with a complete self-guided network. The High Plain Management Office reminds everyone that, due to the area’s proximity to the sea, no streetlights have been installed at night in accordance with coastal defense regulations, so nighttime cycling is not recommended. The path will also be closed and entry prohibited during heavy rain or typhoon warnings. Please stay updated with alerts from the Central Weather Bureau for safety.
