Registration for the Paddle Ironman Begins with the Inaugural Paddle & Run Duo Category

The nation’s only event combining canoeing, running, and cycling—“Paddle Ironman Tourism Activity”—is now accepting registrations until 11:59 PM on May 25. This year sees the first addition of an individual “paddle + run” duo iron category, which can solve the inconvenience of participants carrying bicycles in previous editions.

Organized by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau, this year marks the third edition of the Paddle Ironman competition. In addition to retaining the individual triathlon category, team triad category, and government agency triad category, the newly added individual paddle & run duo category allows participants to experience the thrill of mountain and sea adventures without the need to bring a bicycle.

This year’s event is scheduled for June 17, starting at the Ruisui Xiuguluan River Canoeing Center. Participants will take on three challenges: an 11-kilometer canoeing trip along the Xiuguluan River, a 12.6-kilometer run along the Ruigang Highway, and a 44-kilometer cycling route on Provincial Highway 11 — County Highway 13 in the east, allowing athletes to race with fiery passion along the stunningly crafted coastline of eastern and central Taiwan.

Additionally, as this year’s event coincides with the summer break for universities nationwide, a new “University Full Course Paddle Competition Category” has been introduced. University students can register by forming teams of eight.
