Foguangshan 3D Light Show Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Founding & Welcomes Lunar New Year with a Month-Long Lantern Festival

Not sure where to travel during the Lunar New Year? Why not visit Foguangshan to welcome the New Year? In 2017, marking the 50th anniversary of Foguangshan’s founding and the upcoming Lunar New Year, this year (2017) Foguangshan will hold a month-long Lantern Festival from January 28 to February 25 under the theme “Fame Shines Across the Heavens.” Additionally, the long-running fireworks show will feature nighttime lighting in the form of a “3D Light Sculpture Blessing Show,” inviting the public to celebrate the New Year together.

This year’s lantern displays at Foguangshan highlight the monastery’s sports-oriented Buddhist teachings, featuring a variety of sporting events. Foguang Boulevard will host an extensive night market along with delicacies such as Shanxi noodles and creative light meals. Moreover, the Buddha Memorial Center will also present cultural treasures including Hebei acrobatic performances, Ming and Qing dynasty court Buddhist art, Guangxi Caichang song and dance dramas, and works of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, inviting everyone to experience a truly unique holiday celebration.
