The Palace Museum and Google jointly launched today (the 11th) the “Art Project” webpage featuring the Palace Museum’s collection. Starting today, netizens worldwide can access the Palace Museum via Google’s “Art Project” website to browse masterpieces of calligraphy and painting, including “Travelers Among Mountains and Streams” by Fan Kuan of the Song Dynasty and “Early Spring” by Guo Xi of the Song Dynasty. Artifacts on display include 15 popular national treasures such as the “Western Zhou Dynasty Mao Gong Ding,” “Qing Dynasty Jadeite Cabbage,” and “Northern Song Dynasty Ru Kiln Lotus-Shaped Warming Bowl.” Users can also explore indoor virtual tours of the “Art Project,” allowing them to “tour” the Palace Museum comfortably from home.

Palace Museum Director Chou Kung-hsin stated that the Palace Museum is ranked as the seventh most popular museum globally and the first in Asia in 2011. This collaboration with Google’s “Art Project” once again showcases the exquisite beauty of Chinese cultural relics to the world. The focus of this partnership is to bring representative masterpieces of the Palace Museum’s calligraphy, paintings, and artifacts onto Google’s online platform, allowing art lovers worldwide to appreciate the intricacies of Chinese culture.
