Korea Yeosu Expo Series / Join Yeosu in Protecting the Earth – Expo Activities Begin

The 2012 World Expo will be held from May 12 to August 12 in Yeosu, South Korea. A total of 105 countries and 10 international organizations will participate, with the theme of "The Ocean and the Coast." It is the world’s first innovative design of an Expo site centered around the sea, covering 1.74 million square meters at the “New Port of Yeosu, South Jeolla Province.” The main layout includes 14 exhibition zones and performance stages, 7 domestic corporate pavilions, and 4 outdoor themed areas. Moreover, during the 93-day event period, there will be an average of 40 performances per day.

Prior to the official opening of the 2012 Korea Yeosu Expo, to rally more friends from Taiwan to join in promoting the importance of protecting the Earth and the oceans, the Korea Tourism Organization Taipei Office launched the “Protect the Earth with Yeosu” photo upload campaign. With a simple gesture and one uploaded photo, participants can show their care for the planet through action. From 18:00 on April 12, 2012, to 00:00 on May 11, 2012, participants are invited to take a photo of the “Protect the Earth with Yeosu” hand gesture (see the official website event video for the gesture), upload it to the campaign website, and submit their details to enter the lucky draw. Prizes include Cheong Kwan Jang products, multiple round-trip flight tickets to Korea, Samsung smartphones, Korean beauty and skincare products, and Seoul design-related cultural gifts.

The Expo is open daily from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with night entry available from 7:00 PM. Individual entry tickets are expected to go on sale online in late April (night tickets must be purchased on-site). Regular daytime adult tickets cost 33,000 KRW (approx. NT$858) (night tickets 18,000 KRW / approx. NT$468), designated day tickets are 40,000 KRW (approx. NT$1,040) (night tickets 20,000 KRW / approx. NT$520), 2-day discount tickets are 53,000 KRW (approx. NT$1,378), and 3-day discount tickets are 69,000 KRW (approx. NT$1,794). The all-period ticket, which allows free entry throughout the event duration, is priced at 200,000 KRW (approx. NT$5,201) per ticket; a 5% discount is available for pre-orders placed before the end of April.
