Travel search engine Skyscanner.com.tw has released the latest “Best Time to Book” big data report for Taiwan based on data analysis, helping travelers plan their trips by identifying the best times to book the cheapest flights to their desired destinations — saving hundreds of dollars in the process.

This report reveals that November is the month with the lowest average flight prices across Taiwan for the entire year, during which travelers can save an average of about 17.5% on international flights. In contrast, July is the most expensive month, with ticket prices about 21.8% higher than the average. Further analysis by Skyscanner.com.tw found that flight prices to both nearby and faraway cities vary in terms of the cheapest and most expensive months due to a variety of factors.

Note: This data analysis is based on flight price searches originating from Taiwan on the Skyscanner website and mobile app over the past three years.

A further breakdown by the four continents shows that ticket price trends also differ due to various factors, resulting in different cheapest and most expensive months for each.For Asia, which is close to Taiwan, the cheapest months for flights often fall in the off-peak travel season of November, with an average savings of 9.3%. Popular Taiwanese destinations such as Tokyo, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Bangkok can offer savings of around 8% to 15% if visited in November.Meanwhile, in recent years, many Taiwanese travelers have opted to take short trips around the Lunar New Year period, and February coincides with shopping festivals in Hong Kong and Seoul — both of which contribute to making February one of the most expensive months to fly to these regions.

Similarly located in the Pacific, Oceania experiences opposite seasons to the Northern Hemisphere. The cheapest average flight prices here tend to fall in August, during the local winter, when prices are about 10.8% lower than the average.Melbourne, a popular destination among Taiwanese travelers, hosts multiple major events from June to August. As a result, May — right at the start of winter and with fewer events — becomes the month with the cheapest flights, offering potential savings of up to 15.8%. January in Oceania marks the height of summer, featuring many popular events such as the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne and the Latin American Cultural Festival, attracting many visitors and consequently making January flight prices relatively high.

For popular travel cities in Europe and the Americas, such as London, Paris, Los Angeles, and Vancouver, the cheapest flight months occur during the off-peak travel season in November and October, with average savings of 7.3% and 9.9% respectively. Meanwhile, July and August are the peak summer travel months, making them the most expensive times to fly.However, flight prices in each city can still be influenced by local festivals and climate conditions. For example, in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, March is the cheapest time to fly due to the city’s still damp, cold weather and possible snowfall, which make it less ideal for enjoying the famous outdoor markets, canal boat rides, or cycling activities. In August, flight prices rise again due to the vibrant Grachtenfestival (Canal Festival).
