Steam sightseeing train "Summer in the Bay No. 5/30" now open for ticket bookings

To commemorate the "125th Anniversary of the Railway Festival" and the "Sister Locomotive Bond between CK124 Steam Locomotive and Japan's JR Hokkaido C11 Winter Moorland," TRA will deploy the CK124 steam locomotive to pull three business-class carriages and a dining car on June 8 (Friday), offering the public a chance to experience the beauty of Neiwan. This marks the first time TRA’s business-class carriages have appeared on the Neiwan Line. The journey starts in Hsinchu and ends in Neiwan, with tickets priced at NT$899. Online ticket sales begin at 9:00 AM on May 30.

The "Summer in the Bay – Neiwan Journey" departs Hsinchu at 10:09 AM, stops at Zhudong Station for 60 minutes where passengers can visit the "Hsiao Jui-Sung Art Park" or the nearby "Zhudong Heart" area; they can also capture photos at Jiuzan Station of the iconic "semaphore signal," a symbol of railway heritage. The route includes a stop at Hexing Station to admire its unique red-brick, red-tiled old station building. Passengers will spend about two hours at Neiwan Station to explore local Hakka cultural sites such as Neiwan Old Street, Neiwan Theater, and the workshop of artist Liu Hsing-chin. The entire trip is expected to return to Hsinchu by 3:15 PM.

Tickets for this journey are available only via online computer booking; phone reservations, online payment systems, reserved-seat automatic ticket machines, post offices, or convenience stores are not accepted.
