Golden Boh Mountain Health Walk: Exploring the Charm of a Bygone Mountain Town

Organized by the Gold Volunteers Team under the Gold Museum, which is part of New Taipei City Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs, the “Mountain Health & Culture Walk” is different from the previous month-long Mine Miscanthus Festival. From June to November, six sessions will be held, with the first session now open for registration. During the walk, participants will not only explore historic mining trails and learn about the once-thriving mountain town settlements, but will also help with mountain clean-up efforts.

The six sessions are scheduled for June 30 (Sat), July 28 (Sat), August 25 (Sat), September 29 (Sat), October 27 (Sat), and November 24 (Sat). The walking route is: Park → Mitake Residence → Octagonal Pavilion & Copper Processing Plant → Jintan Temple → Water Ditch Bridge → Jinfu Temple → Guashan Elementary School → International Peace Memorial Park for the End of War → Quanjidian → Qitang Old Street → Former Miners’ Hospital → Park. Registration for the first session is now open, while the other sessions will open 45 days before the event date and close 7 days prior. Each session has a limit of 20 participants and will close once full. The participation fee is NT$200 per person (including one miner’s lunchbox and one admission ticket to Pit No. 5).

Successful registrants should report to the Gold Museum Visitor Service Center at 9:30 AM on the day of the activity. The walk will start at 10:00 AM. The entire health walk and guided tour will take approximately two hours, and participants will receive one “miner’s lunchbox” after the event. Registration is by phone only, at 02-2496-2860.
