Registration for the Seaview Matsu Uninhabited Islands Seagull-Watching Tour is now open

Travelers who enjoy seagull watching and taking boat trips to admire coastal scenery are in luck！ The Matsu National Scenic Area Administration has launched the "2012 Seaview Matsu & Eco Seagull-Watching" tour, departing every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 09:00 from Fuyao Wharf in Nangan, heading to uninhabited islands such as Zhong Island—a tern sanctuary—to admire the beauty of terns. Along the way, you can take in Matsu’s unique coastal ecology and landscapes, as well as former military outpost sights, all from the sea. The participation fee is NT$230 per person, with a maximum of 45 people per trip.

Gou Yongyuan, director of the Matsu Administration, said that last year’s eco seagull-watching tours organized by the administration received an enthusiastic response. This year, a summer-exclusive itinerary is being offered, giving the public a chance to admire Matsu’s beauty from a different perspective out at sea. With the help of professional guides, visitors can learn about tern colonies up close, as well as see nearby attractions such as Shiyu Islet, Beigan Airport, and the Sea-based Confucius Statue.

Participants are required to check in at the passenger service counter in the waiting lounge at Fuyao Port in Nangan at 09:00 on the day of departure. Each passenger will receive a set of commemorative postcards featuring the mythical bird—the Black-browed Reed Warbler.
