Street closure for water fights at the Cold Spring Culture Festival & riding the Golden Horse train through Su'ao

During summer vacation in Yilan, besides surfing at Honey Moon Bay and Wushih Harbor, the famous cold springs of Su'ao also help visitors beat the summer heat. The annual Su'ao Cold Spring Culture Festival will launch a three-day event tomorrow (the 13th) at Cold Spring Park. This year, in addition to a street closure for a massive water fight, there will also be a nostalgic "Golden Horse" sightseeing train — the main public transport on the Su-Hua Highway back in the 1960s. The festival will also feature performances by well-known Taiwanese pop artists such as Huang Xitian, Luo Shifeng, and Zhang Xiuqing, as well as events like the Cold Spring Cup singing competition, ensuring visitors enjoy a cool and lively weekend holiday.

The Su'ao Cold Spring Culture Festival will run from July 13 to 15. On the evening of the 13th, the Lanyang Dance Troupe will open the event. From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the 14th, at Su'ao Railway Station Square and Zhongshan Road, the street will be closed for a crazy water fight. The first 500 participants in the challenge activities and street painting parade will receive a free water gun. This year also introduces a nostalgic "Golden Horse" sightseeing train that ran along the Su-Hua Highway in the 1960s — for just NT$30, you can enjoy a one-day ticket to tour Su'ao attractions. Limited-edition Su'ao mini travel postcards will be issued, and shopping vouchers will also be available for free tastings of cold spring cuisine in the commercial area.

In the evening of the 14th, the Taichung Violet String Orchestra will perform, alongside an entertainment night with classic songs by artists such as Huang Xitian, Luo Shifeng, and Zhang Xiuqing. On the 15th, there will be the Cold Spring Cup fun run, softball competitions, and the singing finals, plus performances by foreign teams from the Children's Festival in the evening. Admission to Su'ao Cold Spring Park is NT$70 for full-price tickets and NT$40 for half-price tickets. During the event, Su'ao Township residents can enter for free by presenting valid ID.
