Clam digging, seafood, and sunset concerts—Tainan’s summer seaside scene is buzzing with activity

The series of events under “2012 Tainan Qigu Sightseeing Blood Clam Garden” will kick off tomorrow (the 28th) and run until August 19. Every Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the “Qigu Sightseeing Blood Clam Garden” series of events will be held at the Qigu Liukong Wharf. The events are free to enter, and on the opening day, July 28, limited giveaways will be offered—including one pack of blood clams, one pair of children’s socks, and two hundred free admission tickets to the Tiger Head Pond Scenic Area—each to 200 visitors who attend. The event focuses on “clam digging fun” and a “seafood festival,” supplemented by fringe activities such as a “fishing village specialty market,” “sunset wellness concerts,” and “water recreation activities.” Visitors can enjoy music, watch the sunset, paddle small boats, and savor delicious seafood, making for a wonderful eco-friendly summer seaside trip in Tainan.

To promote Tainan Qigu’s fishery tourism and fresh seafood, continuing last year’s well-received seafood feast, the “HAPPY Thousand-Person Banquet” will be held at 6:30 PM on August 11 in front of Longshan Temple. The event also features a “Happy Concert,” with performances including a jazz big band, nostalgic local songs, Sichuan opera face-changing, acrobatics, and dance performances by the Daliao Community’s Black-Faced Spoonbill Angels.

Tainan Mayor Lai Qingde emphasized that Tainan’s coastal area is a very beautiful place, featuring scenic salt fields, o_ lakes, fresh seafood, and rich cultural heritage—giving us reasons to attract tourists all year round. Upcoming events include the “Peaceful Salt Festival,” “White Christmas Night,” and the year-end “Sunset at the Salt Fields,” ensuring a full schedule of activities throughout the year in the coastal region.
