The most adorable moment in Taitung’s skies: the Pirate and Mushroom hot air balloons take flight

After Typhoon Saola left Taiwan, the Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival resumed at Luye Gaotai in Taitung County and immediately attracted large crowds. Especially on Saturday (the 4th), the Pirate and Mushroom—two uniquely shaped balloons making their first appearance in Taiwan—along with six other tethered balloons rising and descending, transformed the entire Luye Gaotai grassland into a fairytale-like wonderland, leaving nearly five thousand visitors who arrived early in the morning absolutely amazed. Tomorrow (the 7th), 13 balloons will take to the skies together, marking the highest number of simultaneous launches during this festival.

The Taitung County Government stated that this year’s 2012 Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival, held at three times the scale of last year, has attracted over 4 million visitors in just one month to experience the hot air balloons. To allow even more people to enjoy the most romantic summer vacation, an extra show will be added at dawn tomorrow, featuring the highest number of balloons ever showcased—13 in total. Among them, seven balloons, including the Pirate, Mushroom, and two Taitung-themed balloons, will take off together for free flight. This marks the most spectacular hot air balloon flight performance in Taiwan’s history.

Additionally, a hot air balloon light music concert to celebrate Father’s Day and honor hardworking dads will take place starting at 6:30 PM on August 8th at Luye Gaotai in Taitung. Around 12 balloons are expected to appear simultaneously, and the entire event will run until September 2nd.
