During the summer vacation, there are countless events across the province. To establish Taipei as Asia’s most LGBTQ+-friendly city, the city will host its inaugural “Rainbow Market” on September 2, inviting LGBTQ+ businesses, cultural and arts groups, street performers, and more to participate. The event will be held in conjunction with the weekend creative market at the Red House North Plaza. The activities will be divided into sections including the Gay Men’s Literature Area, Lesbian Culture Area, Rainbow Market Area, and Rainbow Art Area. On the day of the Rainbow Market, there will also be guided tours of installation art, with three sessions available—each limited to 30 participants—allowing attendees to interact with the artists and learn about rainbow culture.

At 3 PM on September 2, the film “Love Alarm” will be screened at the Ximen True Color Theater. This film won the Teddy Award at the 2010 Berlin Film Festival. The jury noted that the film presents contemporary issues of gay parenting with a delicate and humorous touch, as well as the intricate complexities of sexual orientation, relationships, and family intimacy. Those under 18 are not allowed to enter, and ID will be checked at the venue.

The highlight of the event, the “Rainbow Installation Art Exhibition,” is jointly planned by local businesses in the Ximending Red House commercial district. Combining artistic creativity, it offers the public an in-depth look at the development of Taipei as a rainbow city. The exhibition will run from September 2 to September 30 at the South Plaza of the Red House.
