The Lishan Seven Wolves Music Concert to Debut on August 25

Blessed with a unique climate, Lishan offers flower viewing in spring, fruit picking in summer, leaf peeping in autumn, and snow appreciation in winter — enjoyable all year round. Especially during the hot months of July and August, Lishan at an altitude of 2,000 meters is the perfect summer retreat. This year’s “Rediscover Lishan · 2012 Lishan Tourism Season,” running from now until October 28, will feature a range of activities including free eco-guided tours, a highland music feast performed by the “Lishan Seven Wolves Police Band,” a photography exhibition titled “The Journey to Lishan” by renowned photographer Yu Rujì, and the reopening of the Lishan Hotel, which was severely damaged in the 2004 Typhoon Mindulle floods, in October. Additionally, visitors who stay or make purchases in Lishan during the event period can enter a lucky draw for prizes such as double occupancy lodging vouchers and Lishan tea gift boxes by presenting their receipts or invoices.

This Lishan Tourism Season is themed around “the journey is the destination,” summer escape, and tasting fresh alpine fruits and vegetables. From now until September 30, every Wednesday and Saturday, volunteers at the Lishan Visitor Center will offer free eco-guided services, taking visitors to explore the ecology of the backcountry trails and admire the Lishan Hotel — one of Taiwan’s three palace-style buildings. Guided tours require advance booking and are available for groups of five or more. From September 10 to October 22, a “Fragrant Fruits of Lishan Two-Day Tour” will be launched in collaboration with travel agencies, departing every Monday with a starting price of NT$4,200.

The “Rediscover Lishan” concert, scheduled for August 25 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM in front of the Lishan Hotel plaza, will kick off with lively traditional Atayal indigenous dance performances. The well-known “Lishan Seven Wolves Police Band” and the ethereal “Unplugged A Cappella Performance” will also deliver a musical treat. There will also be fun games, giving attendees the chance to take home fresh alpine fruits.

From October to November, the Lishan Visitor Center will host a curated exhibition of vintage photos titled “The Journey to Lishan” by renowned photographers such as Yu Rujì, reflecting on the scenery and history of Lishan half a century ago. On October 6, a special open-air cinema event will screen the classic 1967 romantic film “Dawn over Lishan,” starring Ko Chun-hsiung and Chang Mei-yao, which captivated audiences across Taiwan.
