New York and Tokyo “Urban Vibes” to Create a Cross-Disciplinary Saturday Night at the North American Pavilion

The Saturday Night program at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum builds a creative energy hub through a series of urban-themed lectures and cross-disciplinary sound and dance performances. From September to November, under the theme of “urban vibes,” a series of creative talks and performances such as “Tokyo Answers: Creativity and Humor in the City of Evolution” and “Contemporary A Cappella: A Dialogue Between Voice and Space-Time” will be launched. These events allow the public to explore artistic imagination and creative vitality from the perspectives of cities including Tokyo, New York, Tainan, and London. All activities during Saturday Night are free of charge and do not require advance registration.

The “Urban Vibes” project invites cultural and creative professionals from various fields, such as graphic designer Feng Yu, founder of Old House Architecture Studio You Zhiwei, editor-in-chief of The Reporter Feng Guangyuan, and director of the Architecture Department at National Chiao Tung University Gong Shuzhang. Through thematic talks, they highlight the unique appeal of different cities—from Tokyo, New York, and London to the revitalized ancient city of Tainan in Taiwan—offering audiences multiple viewpoints and encouraging them to rethink and redefine the urban landscapes they inhabit.

The Saturday evening opening at the North American Pavilion has been held for seven consecutive years, extending museum hours until 8:30 p.m. every Saturday. After 5:00 p.m., visitors can enter free of charge to view exhibitions other than special exhibitions and participate in related activities. The museum also periodically hosts performance art events such as “TFAM Portrait Theater” and lecture programs like “TFAM Opens Creativity.” Taipei Fine Arts Museum: www.tfam.museum.
